Want to explore your passion for music? Learn about the origins and future of Grime music? Meet incredible individuals and develop valuable film & documentary making skills at the same time?...

Then the Waltham Forest Grime project is for you... The project will celebrate the artists, producers and promoters from the Waltham Forest, who have helped create the music and nurture the scene that many have come to know and love.

There will be a variety of programmed events taking place throughout the course of project including:

  • Film screenings
  • Events & Project showcases
  • Panel discussions
  • Talks and Q&A Sessions
  • Lyric writing workshops
  • Beat-making tutorials

All of which will be centred around the main film making project - where young people will be working together to create a documentary.

The documentary will be premiered early next year and will also be screened at key events during the Waltham Forest Borough of Culture year in 2019.

Young people taking part in the documentary will have the opportunity to:

  • Work alongside professionals to create a documentary
  • Develop their skills in research, filming, interviewing, editing & events management
  • Interview key figures in the Grime scene
  • Attend workshops and panel discussions exploring: 'The roots of Grime', 'How Grime emerged in Waltham Forest', 'Women in the Grime scene', and 'What's next for the genre?'
  • Curate an event for the first screening of the documentary
  • Add the documentary to their personal portfolio

Key dates for you diary include:

  • 18th October 2018 - This is the registration deadline for applying to be involve in the project.
  • 19th October 2018 (4.00pm - 7.00pm) - Auditions will take place on this day.

  • 22nd - 26th October (10.00am - 3.00pm) - 5 day workshop at the William Morris Gallery

* Filming of the documentary will take place in late October/November
