About this shot
BBC2 is hosting a series of invitation-only screenings and events to introduce 'Being Blacker' before broadcast.
We want to hear from young audience members from black communities on how to maximise the impact of BBC Documentaries to create dialogue on the crucial social issues of our times.
After a ten year absence, acclaimed filmmaker Molly Dineen is back with a new feature documentary, 'Being Blacker', an intimate, 90-minute portrait of Jamaican-born reggae producer, businessman, father, son, and community pillar, Blacker Dread. 40 years after featuring in Dineen’s first film, Blacker, his extended family, friends and community in South London, face the combined challenges of rapid social change, gentrification, inequality, poverty, crime and racism as they seek to secure their futures..
Made with intimacy and warmth, the film
takes us deep into Blacker’s world and, through his eyes, offers a
rarely-heard perspective on life in Britain today.
Please join us for a special preview screening with Q&A from Blacker Dread and film-maker Molly Dineen.
