13 September 2018 and Slenky is invited by the University of Birmingham to contribute to the first Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Responsible Business annual conference at the uber-wonderful Fazeley Studios, in the heart of Birmingham's authentic creative quarter, Digbeth. (If you get a minute it's really worth a stroll around this living street gallery).

Delegates included leaders and policy-makers from across the sectors such as Danone, Wells Fargo Capital Finance, Business in the Community (BITC), Pinsent Mason and the West Midlands Combined Authority, discussing topics ranging from energy, water consumption and the overall value of responsible business practice.

Naturally, Slenky and our friends at UpRising were there to make sure the interests, concerns and futures of younger people were repped, along with young Lloyds 'Scholars'. (Lloyds Scholars is a programme run by Lloyds Banking Group partnering with leading universities to offer students a complete package of financial support, paid internships, mentoring and employability skills.)

The first conference could be described as successful in that we're seeing a new commitment not only to responsible business practice but also what seems to be authentic interest in having a tangible and real impact on peoples' lives. More to come we hope - watch this space...
